First Five Minutes With Tejon Finds Gold

I just got a used Tejon and was going over my front yard again which is a 100 years old and found a 14k womens ring. Unbelievable. Anyone know how to get the best price for old gold jewelry? I had previously gone over the yard with a Cibola and then a Vaquero but with the Tejon's dual discriminators I had one set below foil and the other up to silver and it came in right at the foil mark exactly.

Brandon,
This old dog learned a new trick this weekend. I was hunting a soccer field with my Vaq disc set just past the notch above iron. I dig a lot of foil so I am happy with the thought I will find most rings in the gold range. While I know I may be missing some goodies, it cuts my digging in half.
Well, I got a signal and dug a pendant with a part of the chain attached. I reswept the hole but got nothing.
I had this crazy idea that there was more so I hit the pinpoint button to go all-metal. I got another signal and dug off to the side of the plug. It was the rest of the chain. It was blackened and cheaply made so I figured it was junk jewelry until I got it home and under a loop. It is 9 grams of 925 silver.

I have heard that midwest refineries is used by many of the detectorists here so you may wish to do a search to confirm. I haven't cashed my gold in yet and glad I didn't since its jumped so much in the past couple month. Congrats on the ring, A good find is always the highlight of a hunt!

Congrats on the gold.

Some pieces can be sold for more than melt value if they are pretty or unique or both and you can match them to the right buyer.

ARA in Dallas, Tx. is top notch. They do what they publish they do.

Got a check last week for the past year and a half of finds of gold and silver. Just after mailing the package to them, I found a 14K band, so am now starting to collect the next batch of good recyclable metal.

Here's a link: ARA
