Only got to hunt for about an hour last night but was really impressed! Just a brief skim through the manual and AA batteries in the detector (cause the main battery is still charging) I went to one of my close to home hunting sites. Found some clad and a silver plated "coin plate"?? Not sure what it is but to me it looks like a slot cover to put coins or tickets through. It is not stampped cause it's not symetrical the way it's made. Neat stuff for turn on and go hunting with a new machine!
Very nice for the first time out. It will only get better and better as you learn how to tailor your modes, patterns, and settings to fit your conditions. Did you get "The Minelab Explorer & E-Trac Handbook" written by Andy Sabisch? It is a must read for any E-Trac owner. After you

I got that book as well from BigValleyMetalDetectors, I read it the first night I got it and it has helped me out so much. I brought it down to college with me and I probably read it once a month to help familiarize myself with it. If you are not much of a reading person it helps because the book has a lot of good pictures in it Don't give up on the Trac!
Congrats on your first hunt. The E-Trac is a great detector and I surely will have mine for a long time. Looks like your off to a good start with yours. Now get out there and cover a ton of ground, low and slow of course. HH -Marc
I think the artifact es a decorative buckle of a saddle for a horse. I had a saddle and had some of those on the sides.
good find, I'm new to the Etrac too and today was my first official hunt day with it, the soil was wet and didn't do good. hope for tomorrow Will get better and dryer than today.
