First Finds with CTX 3030

I got back from the CTX 3030 Seminar Thursday and had an opportunity to hunt for about 15-20 minutes Friday with the new machine.
My settings were: Pattern 2, Sensitivity Auto, Audio Combined, Target Trace ,Ferrous-Coin Seperation
The place I chose to hunt was a yard of a 90 year old home that was absolutely unreal as to the small pieces of iron. The yard hadn't been detected in years because it was so bad.
1..... The detector worked perfectly, iron targets were plentiful and then I got a low audio with 2 targets on the screen with a 11/42 . One was lower right bottom (iron) with a second target at right center. With the Ferrous-Coin Seperation mode on, there was very little smearing on the lower right target. I pinpointed and dug a nail, ran the coil over the hole same thing again !!! pinpointed and dug another piece of iron. Ran the coil over the target and got the same thing yet again. Pinpointed and dug up a wheatie. Ran the coil over the hole again and now only iron was showing in the right hand bottom corner. One coin masked by 3 pieces of iron.
2.... A few minutes later, low iron audio with 2 obvious targets and a 12/41. Pinpointed and out came a wheatie. Ran the coil over the hole again, same thing again... dug another wheatie... went over the hole again, high tone with an icon in the lower right bottom. 2 Coins masked by a good sized piece of iron.
This machine is new for me and I think in the future I will be switching between the Ferrous-Coin Seperation and Target Trace mode to see which one works best or .... Best to all, Richard

I am sure that there are errors in my operation of the new detector but hopefully those will be fewer as we learn together...

Looks like you're off to a great start Richard. You did well! As I've said, the ability to see targets under the coil is nothing short of amazing. One comment that I would offer is that Target Trace can be implemented with Ferrous Coin. In fact, I use Target Trace and Target Trace Pinpoint, with Ferrous - Coin separation and Combined Tone ID much of the time. They make for an excellent combination! HH Randy

Great report Richard, thanks for sharing.----That CTX is sounding like an amazing machine!-----------Del

Thank you Richard !!

Good info you guys, I'm taking notes.----I think we all should be doing that as these settings/results start coming forward.-----We can learn this baby (CTX) together!----Ground conditions, hunt sites, etc. can & will vary with different individuals but we will sure have some good info to build on/utilize.----------Del

looks like its been , improved , somthing good

Richard,

Thank you for the report. Watching the videos and then reading about field hunts (such as yours) is really giving me a better "visual" in my mind at how this detector works. Look forward to your future posts with the 3030. - Jim
