First Finds 2016/Ever

Null Detector

New member
Yes, I'm new to the hobby (and this forum). I finally realized the dreams I had at 12 years old (33 years later) and now have a metal detector (XP Deus).

I did a test run today with the Deus at my parents' house and netted four pennies: one 1946 (possibly), two copper memorials, and a zinc 85.

Though the biggie (and the first target I dug) was this:

It's a 19th/early 20th century James B. Clow and Sons faucet handle. Here's how it looked in the catalog.

Now if I can only find it's COLD counterpart, then I'll really be in business.

Welcome.....to the wonderful world of pull tabs ,bottle caps and assorted other flotsome and jetsome. Some times its not the old coins and jewelry that spark the imagination as much as the other items that we come across.
Enjoy!

Welcome to the forum. You will be soon hooked & looking for every opportunity to get outside & put that XP to work. Congrats on your first finds...

Thank you. No pull tabs at my parents' house yet, but I know they're out there, waiting for me....

Oh, I was hooked long before. Now I'm stuck (happily).

Oh yeah, they're there.....lurking.
Sometimes you'll be out all day and don't seem to find much but pull tabs. Its just the nature of the beast.

Welcome, and well done. If you wear this on a chain around your neck when detecting it will bring you good luck.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new Deus - a fantastic machine to say the least !
The Findmall - "Deus" forum and Andy's book are great learning tools.

Good Hunting ! :detecting:

Try cleaning that baby up and you would have:hot: piece LOL

Good hunt. You have a good machine. Remember the places you hunt right now and a year from now go back to them, you will have much more experience with the machine and will make new finds. It really does take a while for each of us to get to know our machines. HH

that is a very cool water valve handle.....it looks REALLY old! it looks like the very first ones that came out with indoor plumbing!

Good finds right out of the gate. And a Wheat oh yeah - there's silver lurking there somewhere. Welcome to the habit and best wishes! By the way I'm 46 but every time I go detecting I'm twelve again too!!
