First find with New 5.3 VDI 0 Foil

Just bought a 5.3 the other day. I was torn between it and a Hotfoot (2x9 I think).

I had been down after spinal fusion, but was dying to try the coil out, so I went out side under the tree in the front yard, which I have searched several times.
I hit a strong signal with VDI 0 Foil. I almost did not dig it. But because the signal was so strong, I chose to dig it. I found a chain, not very deep.

My question is with that VDI is it gold? It has a gold tint but not like my only other gold find a ring at a lake. Not as shiney. It is fairly "sturdy" built not flimsy like some gold necklaces that my wife has.

We bought the hous 8 yrs ago so I know it has been in the ground at least that long.

Thanks for any help,
Lee

Looks like a great find from here....
Check on the tiny ends for any markings or take it to a jewelery shop and have it tested.

Thanks for the feed back, I didn't want it to sound like a foolish question, but this is my first chain and the VDI versus the color of the chain through me off.
Everything I have read said VDI O on a chain was gold, but I was unsure and was looking for a little experinced insight.
Thanks Again,
Lee

[size=large]ya just gotta know,"The only stupid question is the one you don't ask." from what i've been seeing the last year on this forum is that ya never count out any vdi numbers. ya never know what part of the jewelery your machine may be hitting. as you found out it pays to be curious and when in doubt, dig. i, like you , have seen and heard of others finding gold on zero. so far i have a much larger collection of foil than gold. hope your chain turns out to be gold.

Well, its not gold! I wasn't sure, but the 0 vdi threw me off.
I thought that was always gold when it came to jewelry.
Oh well. at least now I know

Segmented jewelry ( chains, necklaces, bracelets) are a different story with most detectors. They usually see each segment as a very tiny ring........ but a lot of them. Gold will also read in the same area.

I have a bucket of pull tabs I thought were all rings too......................................keep digging......
