Well,
The grounds froze, and theres a bit of snow and ice.
Just couldnt help myself , went out, dinkin around the yard,
13 yr old girl, and 7 yr old boy lookin at me like im losin it.
Got a bunch of signals, assorted vdi range,,, one said 4 inches, 78 vdi,
grabbed my rockpick, Dang it , grounds froze Hard!
Decided ,if it was somethin good I might damage it, and to heck,
it aint goin nowhere.
Finally found somethin, at 0 inches. foil or cap
Got it at 1 inch.
our Very first,,,,,
Rusty Bottle cap....
The boy thought it was cool.
The girl, Rolled her eyes, as only a teenager can do,
and went inside.. LOL
Ahhh, well, shes a good sport, and I know she'll be tryin to take over the Bounty Hunter, that she's supposed to share, with her little brother.
So, I guess its back to , waiting for the snow to melt, and the ground to thaw , Dang It!
Oh , and we are saving the cap, as the first of ???,???,??? of them to come.

At lease you tried .
Can only dream detecting until April-May:sadwalk:

Hey Dusty, I know exactly what you mean about the kids reaction. Now I'm just wondering what my kids are doing all the way out there? JK Way to give it a go. I don't know if I could survive out there waiting that long to get out and hunt. Keep your sense of humor. I'm finding it as valuable in detecting as it is in raising my kids. HH

That rusty bottle cap will be something special forever...your first treasure find. Just hang in there, sooner or later spring will arrive. Thanks for sharing this story, I liked it. Kelley (Texas)

I love to hear it all. Just wait till you find that one and only "once in a life time find" and then see if they change their minds. Oh I've seen it alright. It's a great eye opener. HH and keep it going, Nancy

Ahh many pulltabs to come, just the price we pay to get to the goodies! Seems to more and more Montana folks on here. Where are you at?

Howdy jcooking,
We are a few miles out of Butte.
So far Ive bumped into 5 other detectorists, in the area,
One guy is pretty hardcore, actually he's the one that gave me a Whites catalog ,a year ago.
He has a dfx, and now that we own an mxt, he stops by to show me his daily finds.
Pretty neat stuff, relics.
But hes pretty secretive of WHERE he goes,. I ask how he is getting through the frozen ground?
He just keeps saying" Get in your rig and take a drive, look for open ground"
HMMM,???,
So tonight ,comin home , I detoured , drove around some south slopes, and they are bare.
I just dont know if the ground is froze, and who owns what, .
So, i guess my next project is to get to the library, and start researching ,
This area was pretty busy years ago,so ya never know..
Anyhow, Belgrade aint too far , you ever get over this way ?
Are you much into ,rockhounding ,and prospecting?
Well, I better get goin, got chores to do.
And I tend to get a little long winded, sometimes.
Dusty
