first find of year

Yellow Beard

Well here in Massachusetts we had a huge snow storm followed by a slight melt so, I haven't touched my detector as of lately. I did however go to one of the state parks with my camera to see if I could get a nice shot. I'm always looking for a good photo but I keep eyes to the ground too because I want to find a projectile point (badly). So as I was looking at ground, at an area where the snow had melted, I saw a coin about the size of a nickel sticking out about half way, so I grabbed it and cleaned it off. A 1917 Buffalo nickel. You can make out the 191 and the top part to the half of the 7, there is no mint mark on the back. I actually said, No expletive way, out loud and quickly apologized to the nice lady walking her dog while showing her what I had found. Anyways, it's a state park so I don't think I can detect there (99.9% sure), but it made my day and it's my first find in 2011. Will put pictures on tomorrow as the camera is in my truck now.

Treasure is where you find it ..........
