hi guys, made my first find w/my explorer it was nothing big but was proud that i could pinpoint it and find it. it was a canadian penny, must be a comemrative date was 1867-1967. also my earphones that came w/my detector seem not to work half the time, i have to keep adjusting the plug. is there a better brand i could buy? i am planning on getting one of those sunray stands w/ the 1/4 inch outlet. thanks for a great site. anybody in the rochester ny area need a partner, e-mail me. thanks

Definately get the sunray stand/adapter then just about any pair would be better than the ones that come with it, My personal choice are the gray ghosts for the explorer...

thanks for the response jim i will do that! is there a web site i can go to to see the headphones? thanks a
gain Mike

gray ghost home page is detectorpro.com to look at them, Im pretty sure Gary here at findmall carries them

Headphones are not your problem. The 1/8 jack on the xs is terrible. I had to send mine in to have it replaced.
I found that if you route the headphone cord up through the arm strap and loop the velcro over it that it helps keep the tension off the plug.
It also keeps the cord from being under your elbow, which irritates me no end.
Give it a try and see how it works for you.
Good Hunting, great machine.
