First few hunts with CTX....

JJ

Member
I have to say that coming from an Explorer II that I am floored with the recovery speed of the CTX. Not an excuse to hurry of course, but I am more fearless plowing head first into trashy or iron-riddled areas. I probably have less than 20 hours on the machine but I am starting to understand her language and abilities. I have two lake water hunts under my belt now with some success (ring in the scoop!) after taking precautions to shore up any possible leakage issues. I understand why some guys refuse to dunk it but I have allot of warranty left and I didn't buy it to be a trailer queen, but rather a useful tool in my arsenal. Nothing terribly old but positive results nonetheless. Thanks for all the good advice, JJ

Welcome aboard, nice group of finds there.

That barber quarter is gorgeous.

I have similar views on water detecting with the CTX. I will take all the precautions I can and use it fully under warranty. I've done well with my AT Pro in the water but my new CTX is starting to speak clearly to me know. I like what she has to say.

Well, now I know why I have not seen you posting on the Exp. area. You went to the dark side.:starwars:

Nice digs JJ. The ring looks rather old and the native american looking bracelet is sweet.
You did keep your trusty Explorer didn't you?

Thanks for the replies fellas. Mike, The dark side? I always thought switching from White's to Minelab was going to the darkside. Apparently it's the only side I know. :yo: I am finally able to pry myself away from work long enough to get some hunting in before the weather ends the hunting season. Still have the trusty Explorer Mike, but the wife said she might need it for a down pmt on a divorce attorney if the new toy doesn't prove it's worth quickly. Just kidding. (sorta). The Explorer will probably be on the block later this fall or early spring though. TC, JJ

Well it would be hard to have a much better start then you've had. There is a hell of a difference over an Explorer II. Stability

Thanks sube, your videos are great and really help explain the CTX's capabilities. Todd, you are right on about stability. My Exp II has been more than good to me but I know I miss things with it due to EMI, trash, and iron. The CTX is a smooth running machine. JJ
