First few hunts of the season...

It's been a decent start to the year, still waiting for some big old silver though. I have been so busy it's hard to get out to hunt, and even harder to post my finds. I managed to get the day off today, and it's pouring freezing rain with crazy wind. Thought I'd clean up (with my helper) and post my finds from the past month, my first hunting month of 2012.

The IH penny is in great shape, and I dug up a few very old wheaties. The little silver pin is plated I think, but was found in a spot where I have found many 1890-1910 coins, so I think it might be old. The little piece of metal with the name "R. Curtis" was interesting after I did some research. I discovered that Robert Curtis was a farmer near my little town, until he retired and moved into town around 1910. He passed away in 1920. It's interesting how one tiny piece of metal can lead to learning about a life story, lived by someone who helped establish and grow our small town, and the Canadian prairies!

Great bunch of finds! I'm fond of the early toys and pins, and the coins look like they were dropped straight out of the mint! Pretty cute helper elf you've got there, too.

Very nice finds, and the little cutie at the sink looks just as thrilled with your finds as you must be...

HH,

You've got a dandy area to search and an assistant history finder, congrats.

Good location for some old goodies.
Congrats on the old silver.
If only that would have been a 1936 dot penny:yikes:

Thanks guys. As for the helper, she likes to come dig with me sometimes. She says "daddy, let's go look for worms!" Old coins and cool relics don't always show up, but WORMS are guaranteed!
