First Ever Find-Not sure what it is

Hello everyone. I'm brand new to this and have learned so much in the past couple of weeks. I just "inherited" my grandpas old BH machine and took my kids out on spring break to Forest Park in St. Louis. I dug up this relic but have no idea what it is. I'm guessing it could be a leftover from the 1904 Worlds Fair. It's about 5" long and was attached to something on the bottom. Found it about 5" deep near an area that was dug up last fall. Anyone have any idea what it is?

Thanks again for all your knowledge!!! Considering I have no idea what I'm doing and just found the instruction manual for my machine.

They have a bunch of deities that have roundish faces. It has that sort of feel to me.

I'm going to google Aztex gods and see what comes up.

Nice and curious find.

I sort of figured step one is to figure out what culture this comes from. The Worlds Fair in 1904 was loaded with all sorts of cultures etc on display. I also can't tell what it was. Most people I've shown it to suggest it might have been some sort of finial from a flag or lamp or something like that. It's made of brass I think and is quite heavy. It's obviously bent but the center shaft is a bit thin to have been something like a knife or letter opener. It could have also been some sort of decor on a building or fence or something. Pretty interesting for the first thing I found. Beats the heck out of the two pennies and one dime I found after it.

Check with a local historian or even a museum curator, they may be able to help you out. All in all a very nice find, I would take one of those over two dimes and a nickle any day!! Consider this: in 1904, this may have been an item that had already been around for many years before it ended up at the fair.
