Yesterday this came in the mail.
I bought it from Don Dodson North Georgia Relics/Treasure Quest Metal Detectors www.northgeorgiarelics.com
Used, in great condition for $125.00 shipped. Coil cover and manual included.
I am plugging him because he gave me a good deal.
Today I unexpectedly got off work early and headed out to the local park that I have used my Golden Sabre in several times. Got in about 3 hours of hunting.
I would say that the Cutlass Umax beats my Golden Sabre for depth, hands down. This Cutlass can air read a dime, at almost 1 foot! I was amazed!
I found the Cutlass easy to get used to and also liked how the volume of the tone decreased with depth. My Golden signals the same volume, regardless of depth.
At the park today, I kept the discrimination down and dug everything so I could get a good feel for the Cutlass. I was also able to crank the sensitivity all the way up with no chattering. This resulted in a few deep digs, almost deeper than I cared to dig.
The good new is I found my first older coins in this park. No silver but a 1960 nickle and 3 wheaties, 1940, 1947, 1956. Silver should follow sooner or later.
I can't wait to use the Cutlass in my yard. A few inches of soil was added to the front yard around 1960 and I haven't been able to get any old coins out of it yet. With the Cutlass, that may change.
Here's a pic of all my trash finds, Tabdog style.
Coins and a piece of pet jewelry. 9 Lincolns, 3 wheaties, 1 nickle, 2 quarters.
