First detector advice

findgold

New member
I new to your great forum and I will be purchasing my first detector. I live in Northern California and I will be using the detector mainly for gold prospecting. However, it would be nice if the detector could be used for coins/relics on an occasional basis. Any suggestions? I was thinking of a White's GMT. However, I am now leaning towards a PI unit, such as a MInelab or the Infinium LS. I also understand that White's will be releasing a new PI unit shortly. All suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi findgold. You might also consider the Tesoro Lobo Super Traq,
or LST. It's a very good Gold finding VLF auto ground balance
but it's also an excellent coin shooter with discriminate mode.
Since Gold is normally searched in all metal mode, it's also nice
to be able to search in disc. motion mode in lesser mineralized
areas, since Gold is found mostly in iron oxide soils.
