First day with the Tejon

I have a couple of Tejon questions. When trying to GB the threshold on mine is not a smooth tone. It sounds broken no matter how high I turn it up. It is kinda smooth when I can just barely hear it. Is this normal? How do you stop all the cracking, popping, chatter and false signals! Yes, I turned down the sensitivity and I know how to ground balance. Noisiest detector I've ever used! Drove me nuts! I have a Cibola and it doesn't chatter at all.
But... I did find $4.37 in two hours. Nothing deep and nothing old. Any advise appreciated!

On mine was what I would call oscillating. Never steady. But that was just the way it was. Expect more popping, crackling, and such because of the increased sensetivity. That was normal on my detector. It is just a sensitive detector. That was one of the factors that led me to getting rid of mine. It was a good detector, but I wanted something a little quieter and smoother in operation.
