First Day With the Explorer....Questions..

I'm a long time sov user and have been waiting to try the Explorer. My father in law purchased one and is letting me try it out for a few weeks. I know that isn't enough time to do it justice but I'm gonna give it my best shot.
One thing I find that is irritating is that when I'm in pinpoint mode and set the detector down to start digging it infrequently starts going batty on me. Is this a common problem?? Its really difficult do get used to the tone in pinpoint mode and it seems hard to center the target. I used the noise cancel feature a number of times.
Here's my settings...
Sens: Manual, 26
Iron Mask: -10
Threashold: 7
Fast: On
Deep: On
Also, I tried out Digital and was suprised at how slow the response seemed to be when it gave me a number of the target. I assumed that it would be similar to my Sov meter but it really had a hard time locking on.
Thanks for all your help..:)
Tim

put it back in disc before setting it down, it detunes very fast, so sometimes when using pinpoint you bneed to switch back to disc and back.. you wont get a reading on the meter unless it returns to threshold, so in trash or iron sometimes you need to lift the coil a bit after sweeping the target to get a lock on the meter.. after a while the tones will be enough without using the meter.. make sure your variability set to max
