First Day with the ETRAC. Lots of clad!

LostNowFound

Went to a very small neighborhood park yesterday to start learning how to use the ETRAC. First time using the machine, I started out in the preset coin mode.

Well, I was hitting one clad coin after another. Quarters, dimes and pennies, no nickles. This park is not old, thus no silver.

The ETRAC knows how to find coins! If I had experience I would have gotten even more. Found 12 coins in about 45 minutes, all within a 6 foot area.

The only people that know about this very small park are the people that live in the neighborhood. Thus I doubt if it has ever been hunted before. That is why there were so many clad coins in a small area. I will hunt it again, then move onto one of the historic sites I researched online.

I had a hard time pin-pointing with the ETRAC. Any advise is appreciated.

You'll be pinpointing just right in no time. A lot of the times I can do it just X'ing, but you can use the "wiggle" method. I usually use the pinpoint button and pinpoint in 2 directions if its deep. Coins on edge will pinpoint differently. Those are the ones that have the best chance of getting scratched. I see you got a good handheld pinpointer, that's darn near a necessity.
