First day with new camera

I just moved up from my Nikon 4300 to a Canon Digital Rebel. Obviously there is quite a difference between the two cameras so I headed out to the local museum to practice some indoor flash photography. I have a lot to learn but I do think I need to add an external flash as the built in flash seemed under powered for the larger and farther shots. The lighting varied from almost dark, to low light to full sun light. In any case it was a fun day and in spite of my inexperience I managed a few keepers.

This is the fifth and final presidential vehicle ever to be put on display. All vehicles after this will be destroyed in safety tests by the FBI/CIA. This is the vehicle that both president Reagan and president Ford were shot in.

Here is a picture of my son sitting in a DC-3 simulator. They had a great exhibit on the pioneers of flight. The back-light gave me a little trouble at first but I was able to figure the metering out.

Obviously no classic car collection could be complete without the Weiner mobile. <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)">

The museum has a complete history of transportation, including bicycles, carriages, trains, airplanes and automobiles. This is an old stage coach.

There is also a large collection of fire fighting apparatus. This is a beautiful old water pump.

Even camping is covered. This is a 1920's era pop-up camper.

And last, but certainly not least, a beautiful old Packard. Man, some of the early cars had brass, wood and leather to die for.
