First day with etrac no gold but Huge Silver and Old Platinum WOW! ! !

I got my new etrac a week ago and spent some time getting to know it. Last Sat. I went on my first hunt with it.The broach was 5 inches deep on top of a brick to an old walk way.I had it tested and it is platinum and that in it's self makes it rare.I was told that most cameos with the bezel are rare. Most of them had been snipped for scrap. It has yet to be dated.

The platter has tested out as silver. It has yet to be dated. The only markings are a number 4610. It was found @ 14 in. deep. I couldn't ask for a better first day out. WOW ! ! !

Happy hunting!

WOW!!! is right, what a couple of finds and your first time out with the E-Trac, congratulations. Thanks for the pictures. -- Randy

If only the cameo bezel was silver and the platter was platinum! Fantastic finds. Maybe there is more of the silver service out there where the platter came from???

Good luck,

Rich

They both came outta an old park I've been hunting in for about 5 yrs. When I was a kid back in the 80's during he metal detector craze I saw several gold coins dug outta that park.I personally have dug 7 gold coins with my Elite. I decided to upgrade to an Etrac. Do you know how much I paid for it? A dollar. A 1971 trade dollar. That's what I love about this hobby.A person can take their find and reinvest into better equipment.
The dollar I found in 08 with the Elite 7 inches down next to apiece of iron. The Elite taught me lots. GOD I LOVE THIS HOBBY! ! !

Those are some very nice lookin' finds. I love the brooch...but I have to admit, I would've probably gave up on the platter in a park. Way to stick with it!

WOW awesome finds!!! What part of the country do you live in??? stuff like this and gold coins, you must live in Beverly Hills  seriously congrats man!!!

i agree with nebtrac if it was my first day out maybe on the platter but today noway tincan lid.nice finds

That Cameo is really, really cool!
I can't believe you dug the platter? that must have been dang near an overload signal. As I look at that platter, I can just see it with an aweful digger mark in it (just slightly off center). Great recovery, awesome finds!

4610? Sounds like some kind of high grade stainless to me, JMO......NGE

well done for first dig i am just so pleased you are not in my area i just dont need competition like you lol so no coming across the pond to the uk thankyou

Outstanding !!!

As for the "digging mark on the platter" I take special care when I dig. What you see in the picture is how I found it,minus the thick layer of silver tarnish I had to clean off. I turned it over to the historical society and they are doing research on it for me. Second it is silver the first clue was that it is soft. That's what set me off to get it checked out. I am going to be very honest with all of you there is a poss that it is of historical nature. Second I have spoke to city officials and I may have permission to search an area of very historical significance.Third there is a story in the making that began when I was 10yrs. old. I want to post the goings on as I go. When I get the green light on all of this I will reveal this to you.I have waited 28 years for this opportunity to see what what is in this area. I will post more soon as for I want to share the experience.

It looks like the platter is plated, as most were. The greenish pitts on the back would signify plating and basemetal. However, the basemetal is most likely copper or maybe brass. Anyway, good finds and the gold coins sound amazing. Have never found a gold coin, but I'm sure I passed one thinking it was aluminum, just like hundreds probably have. Good luck with more gold.
