First Day w/ ATP and I HURT!!

widebody

New member
[size=large] it's been quite a while since i've dug this much.was given my first lessons on the ATP. still need more practice with the pin pointing.
since i've already been using a dd coil i thought i had pp down pat. nay, nay i say. found myself off by inches today. really like getting back to the bell tones. still up in the air as to if all these finds were due to superior detector or these places weren't hit very hard before. my hunting buddy is treating these places we hunted today as his bank. i count myself lucky if i get $1 in clad. my buddy doesn't go home with just a dollar or even two. we did well today. learned to use the wrap around a little. i just know i'm gunna love that feature once i'm better with it. it's gunna take a while to learn to use the switching back and forth between modes. now i have to go back to my old hunting places and see if this machine will really make a differance for me.
i don't mind missing targets. i just don't want my machine to. now if i can just find a gold ring or two or three or .........

Kep at it the AT really shines in the pro mode. I hunt pro mode wide open on sensitivity if I can. Iron audio on iron disc at 30.

I was there with Widebody and my dad, Mr. Poptop. My dad dug a 1 gram platenium, palladium, gold and silver alloy ring...
This is the happiest I seen Widebody metal detecting, and he gave me a hamburger.:clapping:
My Clad count for today was $4.00.

I remember you in the same area with the XLT and I was finding items behind you.
I doubt I will find much in your trail now.
Looked like you were having fun to me.
Location is key but You did better today with the first outing on ATP then you did with a more familiar machine in the exact same spot.
Laterally the exact same spot that you swung on...
And had 1 the better clad days...
I bet you take that thing to your park and swing by the off leash area you will do well

[size=large]i'm really hoping your right. will also see what the coming rain will do for us. maybe loosen some of that silver.

Pro zero iron off and as hot as it will run, then go -10 to -20 on the GB or until it floats then back off 5 or so. Work slow and all kinds of coins will jump out of the ground.

Yep we were doing that except the - points on GB but we did talk about it...
I did run mine at -5 points tho......

Good info here!

[size=large]just looked it up and the gb on the ATP equates to track offset on the whites machines. now i understand that. will work on how to set it on the ATP. awfully tempting to go out in the rain today. sun was peak -a - booing. but still sore from yesterday.
Gotta say the book i was given by Bart at Big Boys has a potfull of info just on the metal detectors funtions. i'd reccommend it for reading to any mder. especially newbies. it's called, "Relic Quest", by Stephen Moore. and no i'm not into selling books. just have been enjoying reading it.as a matter of fact, after thumbing thru this book a person may find reason not to fall for alot of the hype of certain machines. knowledge will save money. might find it in your local library.

[size=large]Does kneeling in the rain cause wrinkels on the knee-caps? i had to put off some hunting this last year cause of not having a rain proof machine. didn't mind light drizzel w/ my XLT , had a good raincoat for it.but couldn't chance it with my minelab. now i seem to have the right machine for the pacific northwest.
