First day out with the new excal:detecting:

No pics, but I dug quite a few targets: 13 BIG lead sinkers (funny thing, they were almost all found up in a black sand line half way between low tide and high tide??) 3 bottle tops, aluminum slaw, and a clad quarter. Now if lead were just 1/2 the spot price of gold, I would have had a great day  Larry

Congratulations:clapping: on getting a new Excal.I look forward to seeing your future finds. I wish that I could afford one of them.

Well they say where there's lead there's gold. I would go back and hit it again. Anyway, hope you enjoy the new Excal. I plan to get one come spring. Hope many good finds are coming your way.
Jerry

That's great Larry! How'd you find the detector? Did you wade or snorkle? Use a sand scoop or fan the sand with your hand? Just interested in how you got along.
Golden:)

After finding the deal, it was straight to the beach..I'm not SCUBA certified, so I wade and scoop

Not a bad start Larry, lead is a good target to be finding, as it is similar in specific gravity to gold. Good sign. Did you get an Excal or Excal II? 800 or 1000? Keep with it, you'll be in the gold soon enough. Read cjc's new Excal advanced methods book yet? Get a copy of that one too, GREAT READ! I think there is a recent link on the Classifeds page of this forum. Best of luck to ya mate!
