Well I finally was able to get away from work and use my Excalibur..... I've Only had it for a few months now....

I bough it when I was in Nevada.. Then moved to Colorado....Too Cold to use there....

I was summoned to come to Florida to Repair some roof Damage for my Mother and a Couple of her neighbors.. after I finished that her Neighbor wanted me to Remodel her Bathroom for her.... So for the 10 days I've been in Florida I've only been able to get out Once...

I hit a couple of Fresh water lakes.... Found a Bunch of clad... And A Zillion bottle tops.... I had soo Many bottle tops I was afraid I was going to sink into the sand...

I was Also Had such a Frustrating experience with Small Horse shoe Nails.. That were slipping through My Scoop.... What a Pain in the Arse... Drove e Totally Insane...

My set-up was Disc 1.. sen about 12:00... thres Just so I can hear it....

And I Most definitely Need To Either BUY or Build A Straight Shaft.. Without a doubt...

Sorry no Pic's I left my Camera back home..

You should not be having trouble with small nails.

Getting hits on them on a regular basis usually indicates that sensitivity is set too high.

Bottle caps are another story...depends on what they are made of.
Aluminum will hit about like a coin, but steel caps usually make a fart sound.

Thanks Art..

You are definitely correct on the sound..

But I was digging everything so that I familiarize myself with different sounds...

the Nails that appeared to Be Horseshoe nails.. Were About 1" or so long. By apro 3/16 wide...

I'll have to lower the sensitivity a little more. and give it a try..

The nails may be just the right size and condition of corrosion to give hits. Most of the time it should not happen.
If you work your way around by 90 degrees and they suddenly start to null out and and the null is followed by the "iron buzz" in the threshold, then it is probably a nail.

Tell you what.....try something......
You may get a few PM's telling you not to listen to me, but I want you to TRY it. (disc mode)
Bury a coin deep enough that you get a weak hit...you can only raise the coil 3-4 inches without losing it. Turn the sensitivity up and down to see what setting will let you raise the coil the highest without losing the coin. This is the setting you want to use.
You may find that you need to bury the coin even deeper if you start getting the coil up around 6-8 inches.
Provided you don't get any falsing at this setting, then run it right there. If it wants to false, then back it down until it runs smooth.

A different "peaked up" setting may be required for wet sand as opposed to dry sand.

I have a very specific reason for suggesting this, however I am notorious for short posts. if you really want the long explanation then I will give it.
