First CTX water hunt

I'm a Excal II user and I love 'em but I sold my wading Excal and kept my diving one to buy the CTX. Today I finally got to see how this machine runs in the lake I often hunt with my Excal. I didn't hunt very long and I can't say that this machine goes much deeper than the Excal or totally eclipses it, but I definitely noticed a difference in depth. Found one wheat penny and a old tax token in a spot that my friends and I have hunted with Excals and other water detectors for several years. This machine did bring the spot back to life in a small way and I'm anxious to get back there try it out some more. Everything - balance, target ID, discrimination, neutral buoyancy, falsing, depth, etc. was what I was looking for when I bought this machine. I didn't miss my Excal at all. In shallower water when you can see the screen, the ability to see the target ID is really nice. I was worried that I'd be digging more iron, but the stock beach pattern kept me from digging any at all. No bobby pins, either. This is one sweet wading machine. I don't think I can ask for more.

Nice Job Reese - Glad to see you are up and going again.

Good luck and I look forward to you water reports. I will have to try it sometime this summer.

Glad to hear a good report. Not many good water reports yet. Even the slightest depth to me or slightest advantage in uncovering ability is a major advantage over another machine. It could be a find of a lifetime that you have been only a fraction of an inch away from for years and is now discovered. Give it some time and I think you will learn to love it. Cant wait to get mine wet:cheers:

My experience with the ctx in fresh water so far has been nothing but awesome. The only issue I have encountered was digging targets that were too deep to get in chest deep water. I have been able to run at 30 manual with no issues in fresh water lakes and fast moving streams. In the ocean once the water and waves gets above the knees, thats another story.

I took mine in the ocean for the first time yesterday. I was prepared for some chattering, but it was stable as a rock. I didn't get a whole lot of time to use it, but transitioning from the dry sand to to wet sand to the water was flawless.

How deep did you get with it brakinggnus? were you in auto? if so do you remember what your sensitivity was?
