I took my first long weekend trip, of many to come, back to my sister's. I have detected there for the past 2 summers and wanted to visit some "hunted out places" my brother-in-law had hit hard with E-tracs. I left early Saturday morning and stopped at a park, 8 miles from my sister's house. I had told my brother-in-law to call when he was up and around so I wouldn't disturb them. Within minutes, I hit the 2 silver with iron in the hole! We had detected the area very closely many times before. The E-tracs had missed these. I found a bit of clad change and by that time, I received the call.
After picking him up, we went to a yard he had gained permission to hunt. I dug 3 of the Indian Head pennies and a good amount of the Wheat plus more clad. The Hopalong Cassidy ring also came from that yard.
We hunted another spot we did last year and I came up with the silver plated pocket knife. A visit back to the "silver park" produced one more Indian, wheats and more clad. $2 something in clad all together - Remember, most of these places we hit were hunted hard with E-tracs.
I am still getting used to the CTX, but I think it actually separates targets better in iron laden ground. This summer will tell!
I want to thank everyone for all of the help given to get me started with this new machine! You're the GREATEST!!
