I finally got to hunt with my Ctx and seemed to be doing good in some hunted out spots.. I went to the spot where I had found the Civil War reunion badge and metal pictures. Me and a friend had gone there but really didn't find a lot. So I decided it would be the first spot to really test it out..
The first 3-3hour hunts produced 3 mercs, 2 buff's not in picture, another metal picture(flat piece at top, appears to be a farm scene) and several other finds including a WWI dog tag. I also found 2 silver necklace charms, and Good For Token....

Although I had been finding things I just was having issues. I had trouble getting a lock on signals and even the good signals were questionable.. I just thought I should be doing better... So I sent a message to Randy(digger) and told him what I was having problems with.. He really helped me out.. Suggested something different and I spent the night building a mode to use and couldn't wait to get out today. Instead of out of the box programs I built a combined program.
So I headed to town with a renewed look on the machine and tried to forget what I knew to be proven on the Trac and listened and watched what the CTX was telling me.To describe it would be a 2 Tone Ferrous that had multiple tones, in other words it was what I had always wanted in the E-trac, but wasn't possible.. It really made a difference.. I can't explain how big a change in the machine it made for me.
The very first signal was next to a side walk. A police officer came up and was curious about the machine. Signal had a 10-41 and a iron lower right blue pixels.. I told him I believe there is two targets one good one bad, and this is what came up....
That not only impressed him but me too!.. He said I've never seen a machine that could do that... lol me either I told him..The iron piece was an old Jacks toy, the other was a Kawanis pin...
He hung around to watch me dig a couple of other targets before leaving..
My next couple of good targets where 3 Indian heads and 3 buffaloes....
I wished I had had my camera because the last Indian was only a chirp. The screen showed 3 definite targets. 2 bad and one good.. funny thing is I could only get it to sound off every so often.... so I watched the screen as I went over the cluster and centered it and dug.. It turned out being a rusty cap Quarter sized, and a nail. Those two were at around 3-4 inches, the Indian was at 6 and directly under the others.... that was the most impressive thing I have saw in this machine.. No wonder I had missed it on previous digs...
I also dug a pocket knife and watch.
The change in settings and realizing the old E-Trac Warble isn't there anymore,, the CTX is much faster and I am ready to get back to some of my old spots. I will say I had real problems using the wiggle back method like I used on the E-trac... So for the first time in a long time I started using the pinpoint button and it definitely helped.. I also noticed when I pinpointed the targets were a little behind where the shaft meets the coil, especially if it is deeper or on edge..
Thanks Randy for the help..
