First club meeting of the year

Larry (IL)

Well-known member
coming up this Wed. 01-25 at the North Branch library 6:30 PM. Don't forget we have a new meeting room so it will not be clear in the back like it was last year. I look for a lot of good displays this month since we were fortunate to be hunting through December into January but don't forget that the Find of the Month contest is for members in good standing and if your dues have not been paid yet for 2012, you can't enter or vote. We will have 2012 applications on hand. See you there.

What a great meeting last night, nice big meeting room with plenty of room for displays and finds of the month. We had 22 attend a usually slow month for finds but with the mild winter so far, there were some fantastic displays with LOTS of silver and relic finds. Pictures to follow. Congratulations to all of the winners and a BIG thanks to your club officers, all of them running on OVERLOAD with the first of the year responsibilities. I think McLucky missed the whole meeting with finances......... thanks Steve...... :clapping:

One big change to the events calendar is the Spring Fun Hunt, it was changed from April to May 18, 19 and 20th due to availability. Same place as last year, more to come on that.

We have a new club photographer, Jeff M. volunteered for the position..... thanks Jeff.

Pics? That would be awesome. I need an artifact fix. :beers:

I was expecting to see a lot of good finds at the meeting due to the warmer than normal weather this winter but the items displayed went well beyond my expectations. Lots of very old coins, silver, jewelry, relics, and other great miscellaneous items. Now I'm all hopped-up to get back out and hunt. Can't wait for spring and thawed ground to arrive. Daryl

You're not kidding Daryl. What a massive amount of finds for the month of January. Beautiful items that were just waiting for someone to pick them out of the ground. By the way.....nice finds yourself. We had crotal bells to an extremely old cloak closure then a seated half dollar and a small wheat cent worth a bundle. :hot: WOW, it doesn't get any better than that. HH to all, Nancy
