First CANNONBALL with a MXT

WOW, went to a vertually hunted out War of 1812 battlesite. The last time I found a cannonball there was back in 1979 with a White's Coinmaster IV.
On the MXT in relic mode, the signal was a high with a VDI # of 18. Sounded good, so I dug to 14 inches down. No button etc. as I was removing the muck and mud. Kept hitting something down in the water, thought it might be a rock... well, kidding with myself, told myself it a a cannonball, felt right, lol. So I managed to remove the so called rock in my shovel. As it cleared the water---BY GEORGE, IT's A CANNONBALL!!!
A 12 pounder so the weight scale at home says. Spend the remaining 3 hours in the woods and thickets and found no more goodies, just a thorn in my hand from one of those darn thorn trees.

Congrats on the cannonball. We have that type of relic here in Canada. We just don't know what to call one when we dig it out;any ideas. No politican jokes please.

Solid shot found on Canadian soil. Fired from Ft. Erie at the poor soles awaiting bombardment in the woods about 1/4 mile away.

WTG Sven! CONGRATULATIONS ON AN OUTSTANDING FIND!
I'm glad you did not give up on the digging, after you got down about a foot, thinking that it was possibly a piece of USELESS IRON, not a cannonball. LOL/HH
