FIRST CACHE....ALMOST!!

OK, went to this old field where there was an old house site. At the back of the property there was 2 trees, and a path leading to one of the trees, underneath the tree with the path leading too it was a big red rock. i thought to myself: "now this just doest look right" so i moved the rock and swung my ACE where the rock had laid. sure enough, i get a huge signal. right against the tree, i start digging and i reveal a lid to a jar, i feel around the lid and sure enough, theres a jar attached to it! while digging i accidentally punctured the lid so i decided, if this is a jar of silver i don't want to wait im digin it out NOW! so i start digging out the jar while it lays in the hole....NOTHING completely empty! LOL, i pulled out the jar, it was quite old.. maybe someone came back and dug it up? got there cash before they moved... something. anyway, has this ever happend to anyone?
also.. i posted this pic of a button i had found recently, i would like to know if anyone has found one.

Hi Texas, The jar was probably a moonshine jar, if the lid wasn,t on tight it evaporated. The old timers keep it out where the wife didn,t find it. Hope the next one is full of silver, or shine what ever you like. There should be coins alone that path. After a trip or two to that tree, he lost some things going back to the house. Good Luck Flintstone

moonshine aye.. never thought of that, thanks for the tip... that area is hard to hunt because the relater selling the lot pushed allot of fill into it. and theres all kinds of scrap metal laying around as well. i may go back with my sniper coil.

I had a similar experience once. I was detecting in an empty lot in the old area of Kingman, Arizona, when I got a HUGE signal. I dug down about a foot or so and came upon the corner of a flat piece of iron. I thought at first it was just an old piece of scrap, but it looked kinda odd...had a rim of sorts around it. I dug more dirt away and saw that it was rectangular and a bit larger than the top of a military ammo can. Cleaning the loose dirt off the top, I could see some raised writing on it. Sure enough, right there before my eyes were the words "Wells Fargo".

After resting a bit to let my heart settle down, I frantically dug around the sides to see if I could get the thing out of the hole. I pried up the lid and....it was just a lid. Nothing else!!! The rest of the entire hole was EMPTY! I was so disappointed I threw the lid as far as I could.

Now I wish I had kept the lid. It would be a great relic.

LOL, i would regret not keeping the lid too! lol. yeah, my heart was sure racing, but i cant imagine how i would of felt after seeing "WELLS FARGO" written on the lid...good story gila!
