FIRST BIG SILVER WITH CTX

Hello Fellow Hunters:
Found my first big silver with the CTX today. I was hunting at a middle school that was built around 1930. It was between 8 and 9 inches deep and registered loud and clear at 12-48. This school has been pounded over the years. I live in a of city 150000 but as far as I know I am the only one with a CTX. I like to focus on the deep targets while hunting (4 inches or deeper). I was hunting with an open screen using a tone id profile that zeros in to what I think I will most likely find. I like to have fast on and high trash where targets are numerous. But I switch back and forth between modes and discrimination often. It was getting dark when I found the coin and at first I thought I had found a clad quarter but what a thrill to find a 1929-S walking liberty. In over 40 years of hunting this is only the third big silver I have ever found. Slow down use your ears and set up your tones to find specfic targets when hunting "hunted out" parks and schools.

You gotta love that big silver.......:clapping:

Sweeeeet!

Really nice coin, love the walking liberty, congrats, maybe some more big silver for you in 2013 with your ctx. D

Nice job on that silver. What kind of sensetivity levels were you running when you found the walker?

Outstanding finds. Thanks for providing us with all of the details, depth, TID no.'s and etc. It really helps in showing just what this CTX is capable of. I too have been finding more silver with it than any other detector that I have ever used and I have been hunting since the 1970's. Best of luck on your future hunts.

Awesome job congrats

manual 23: I always try to push the sensitivity as high as possible. When I hit on a good tone that sounds "iffy" I switch back and forth between manual and auto. I also switch between modes and discrimination patterns. When deep targets (6 inches or greater) are being found in trashy areas (IE parks and schools) slow down and investigate. I have noted that many times when there is a solid "hit" in one direction put broken in another there is a good target to be found.

Yes, the details of the find are important. I enjoy this hobby finding things myself and learning the why's and how's.
