First beach trip of 2012

Got away to North Myrtle Beach for 5 days. Not a lot of targets compared to previous trips, but enough. Got about 140 bottle caps and 15 tent stakes that I threw away before taking pictures. Spent a day crabbing on a canal pier. Had about 15 too small to keep for every keeper and the keepers were delicious. First cell phone of the year; a toasted blackberry with a cracked screen and a battery that is pealing apart. Verizon says "toss it". Found another bullet point from one of the large rounds that I understand were shot in practice strafing runs over the beach around WW2 time frame. Junk ring, junk earrings, junk chain necklace and one little 10k white gold pendant with a chain that I'm not sure about.

nice pics, nice finds, good eats.

Grats on the finds, I love the Cherry Grove area. I too found a spent .50 cal round last year on vacation there, and wondered how it got there, now I know. I'm going back to Cherry Grove at the end of May, can't wait.

Checkhimref,
When we get to the Myrtle Beach area we are normally somewhere in North Myrtle Beach or Surf Side areas. Not often in Myrtle Beach proper. The public boat ramp and area to fish and crab next to the boat ramp in Cherry Grove was the big find for us this past trip. Kind of amazing that we have visited the area for years, love to fish and crab but did not know about this little jewel of an access area.

My wife found about 20 shark's teeth, a little low count for her, but we were not there a full week this time. I now have two of the .50 cal shell casings and 3 tips. I guess I need to find another casing.

Wish you the best on your trip and hope to see a post about what you discover and dig up.
Cheers,
tvr
