first beach and water hunt this year

Got away to North Myrtle Beach for a few days and got to hunt on 4 of the days. Wet sand and water. CZ6a over the sand and Sandshark in the water.

Talked to several fellow hunters; made it that much more enjoyable. One of the guys who is there frequently told me about salting the beach two years previously with 150 yellow and red pennies to try to see how they moved. Said he and his friend had only found about 15 or so. I found one a bit over 1/4 mile from where they entered the water. (lower part of first picture beneath the nickles; some of the yellow paint is there.)

Heard a lot about how sanded in it was; but it was great to get out. Fair amount of deep greenies. Got my first 50 caliber casing from the beach. I understand there are a lot of them that turn up. Not a lot of iron trash in the water, but did get a fair fish hook count with the Sandshark. Lots of the bottle caps bounced mid-tone on the CZ so I ended up with 61 bottle caps (and 73 pull tabs).

5 rings, all junk. They are a stainless steel spinner, two plated copper and two toe rings; one junk metal, the other aluminum.

The stainless steel ring had me going for a second. Found it after finding a line of targets. Found a nickle, then started a spiral pattern around the nickle. Hit another nickle, a dime and a quarter. They lined up in a line; so I broke out of the spiral and hit the target line that was slanted about 45 degrees to the water. Found another quarter, a penny and then the deep soft foil hit. Darn stainless. It reads 23 / 24 on the F75 when I checked it at home. Foil range just like the CZ6a said.

Weather was great, waves were very workable ... but since I "outgrew" my shorty dry suit, I didn't do a lot of water time as it got cold. Time to lose some pounds!
