First Barber dime. 1904.

Went back to that same old park again today that me and some of my friends hunt. We call it Baseball city, because of all of the little league baseball fields that are near by. Found 2 wheaties (1950, 1932). Another coin that I thought was a wheatie turned out to be an Indian head. It was mostly covered with that green stuff, but I could just make out the date 1900. A little bit later came across a nice signal 12-47. It was about 2 inches away from where someone else had dug a plug. So of course I dug it, 12-47, who wouldn't. I just expanded the other plug with one plunge of the shovel and out popped the Barber dime. I thought to myself, who would walk away or give up on a signal like that? Maybe the first plug produced a coin and the person didn't re-scan the hole for family. If so that was lucky for me. Sorry if I ramble on too much.
Any way, attached is pics of it. It's worn, but who cares ! !

You'll probably be surprised with some more!!!!! I've dug up wheat penny signals and had 'em be Barbers too, on more than one occasion. Congratulations on your first Barber Dan. Thanks for the story and the picture too!

Great job finding your first Barber Dime Dan ! :beers:

It's always a rush when you see an old silver coin in the bottom of the hole !

I got my first Barber Dime January 1, 2010 - ( also a 1904 ) it was snowing, windy and around 20 degrees.
When I read the date on the dime - I really didn't notice how cold it was any more !

Nice find!

Great find. I always go to spots where I can see that someone has cut a plug. There may be something else, or they may not have had a probe and given up on a coin off to the side.

Thats a great find and reason to never listen to someone tell you its already hunted out. I have found many good targets in hunted out spots and probably left some as well.
great barber find.

Congrats!! That first Barber is always a great feeling...... come to think of it, each one after that will be a great feeling too. It just never get old:detecting:
