First attempt at BIF

Attached are my first attempt at trying to take photos of "birds in flight" which is tough since I don't have a long telephoto lens. Oh well ... at least it was a lot of fun.

P.S. Just noticed that the pics show smaller in the post unless you click on it. Is this new? Click on pics to get a bigger size.

and it think it is for those with dialup. They can chose to view the larger picture if they wish.

I like your attempts at BIF!!

I just recently moved from a point & shoot to a DSLR and I'm trying to learn how to use it.

I think most shots were with a short zoom set at about 70mm and around f11 at 1/800 of a second and ISO 1600 as it was quite late in the day. It will take me some time to get a handle on fast moving subjects though.

Best part is that I'm having lots of fun playing around with everything.

A Canon 30D ... as they are less expensive at the moment since a new replacement model is expected in the near future. Lots of new stuff to learn though.

That should work great ... Pentax products are very nice.

We are so lucky to have the many P&S and DSLR digital cameras to help us capture our images. The instant feedback (versus film) really helps in learning how to improve your photography.

Good luck and enjoy!
