First attempt at All-Metal & Ferrous

Today I went out with Jim and Larry and hunted an iron infested field. Right off the bat I got something green and assumed and Indian Head. Later I checked it and it was a 1910 Wheat. BOOOO!

I usually run Iron Mask -13 or -14 on my XS and it was a constant null. Decided to try turning off the iron mask and switching from Conductive to Ferrous sounds. It seemed to work. Constant sound of iron, but occasionally I would get a signal that didn't sound the same.

I got a nice old button back, an 1894 Indian Head, and a 1900 V Nickel. I also got something pretty neat. An 1882 Indian Dog Tag. Has anyone else found one this old? I've got one from the teens, but didn't know they went back this far! On the back it reads something, and then underneath that it says Lafayette, IND.

The marbles and the buttons gave off pretty iffy signals ;)

Nice digs! I've noticed that about marbles and buttons sounding different too. More Saxaphony than Fluty, maybe.
Ha !!!

I know of a guy that will trade coins or cash for old dog tag and those in the 1800 are more collectible. I had a ND 1888 and was offered $200 or a 1880 $5 gold piece for it, got the gold piece in my display.

Being married for some years now I have become used to the noisy chatter making hunting in ferrous all metal seem rather quiet.
