A little winter research paid off this last week . I have been studying an 1858 and an 1874 map of the county which shows schools and churches and located a school that I knew was a farm field now .Google earth helped me lock down the site and a County website and phone book helped me track down the owner . After giving permission , the farmer told me that his father bought the place during the depression and when he was young he remembered a silo on the site . He also said that his father told him that at one time they spread trash on the field but he didn't know why .
Anyhoo , I found this 1864 2 cent coin which is my oldest by 17 years . Also I found an 1898 V nickle , 1914 Barber dime , 1907 D Barber quarter , and three wheat's 1909 , 1925D and a 1909 . My buddies have found 1900 IH , 1944 merc , about seven wheat's 1920's $ 30's and a nice old token from the 1800's .

Hello Pop,
That is a great story...U did the research the foot work and made some fantastic finds. All of us are jealous. Great job and you will have tons of fun on lots of future hunts Cant wait to see what else is hiding in there. I have hunted some of my spots for over 16 years and still find surprises every so often.
Best of luck.
