First 5x8 Hunts! Military pins!

So I got my 5x8 in the mail Friday and I took it out today and yesterday, I am shocked at how much I was missing. I find the littlest things now... And pennies, pennies everywhere! Who's throwing out all these pennies where ever I go??? I'm showing you the best two finds, the left is a US Army Specialist pin, and the right is a US Army Private First Class pin. The specialist pin still has the eagle on it and I am pretty excited about that. I also scored about 30 pennies today and narrowly missed a silver quarter by one year. I love the 5x8 coil, but I need to be in a place with less pennies everywhere haha.

Great finds LuckySteve.. I hope you don't do what I did. I like the 5x8 performance so much I never put the stock coil back on again ha ha. Happy Hunting.

Neat finds! I hate digging Memorial cents, too, but on old sites I do dig them as once in a while something good is hiding under them. Those smaller coils sure add another dimension, don't they? HH jim tn

Glad you're liking the 5x8, LuckySteve - it's a great coil. Those are good finds. I think that the local Hysterical Societies scatter the zincolns in an attempt to drive detectorists MAD! It certainly isn't worth a penny to get down on these old knees, but as Jim tn said, if you have a productive site, cleaning them up can pay off by unmasking some keepers.

I'm hoping to be getting one for my pro soon. After reading up so much about them I cant believe how many people are saying the same thing you are. Going back over trashy areas and really being able to pick out a ton of stuff that had been over several times previously. Getting kinda excited to get one and for this snow to finally get out of here!
