I got out early this year and hit the colonial site I've been working off and on since the spring. I found a few odds and ends including a 1908 IH and a 1918 dog license. The best find was a really nice and INTACT colonial shoe buckle. I've found parts before but this is the first complete one I've found.
Yesterday, Sunday, the weather was quite warm here in Ct but very overcast and foggy. I decided to recheck a different location I had searched early last spring where I found an 1815 Artillery hat plate and a few coins at that time. This time I pushed into a more overgrown and prickery section hoping to scare something up.
A high pitched shallow target turned out to be a clad quarter. Bummer! A few feet away, the same signal again. Another clad!? Well, a quick skim of the surface showed a large brown disc from a depth of about one inch! A LC - 1842. Nice! About 30 minutes later a deep, high pitch scream. Another LC - 1847! (see photo). I was happy to find double coppers in a short hunt.
Thanks for sharing, Bruce
