First 2 Seated Dimes With E-Trac

New member
I am finally getting the hang of my new E-Trac. Went on a quick hunt today and found these 2 dimes. They were about a foot apart. They both read a solid 11-45.
Unfortunately, about 5 minutes after finding them my battery died and had to go home. Hope to get back out there tomorrow.
I started detecting last fall, got the E-Trac about a month ago, these are the oldest coins I've found so far.
Sorry about the photo quality, my camera doesn't do coin close-ups too well.

you started detecting in the fall...i started detecting in 1985 and i have found a total of two seated dimes.) well done! they are beauties.

I thought it would be a silver rosie or a merc, I was not expecting this at all. I was extra careful digging the second one.
What a bummer to have the battery die, I kept detecting until the screen shut down. Lesson learned not to go out with only a single bar left and no spare batteries.

WOW - Great looking coins !!!

I confess, the first one I rubbed, couldn't help it.
lol..it is so hard not to do, what I do is carry a bottle of water, so if you can't help yourself from rubbing it, at least you can pour water over it to see what it is. Might save you hundreds of dollars someday if you dig a key date!

I'm gonna get me some seated soon......Awesome job on not one but two!! There is more hiding where those were found. Keep a pack of aa' sin your car with the other battery pack for the next time. I always do.

Nice pair of seated dimes, congratulations and thanks for the pictures. -- Randy

Very nice finds! Thanks for the story and the pictures!

Cool finds!!!

even more exciting is the prospect of what your next 8 or 10 hour hunt at that site will yield. I envy you!

I went back to the same spot today for a few hours, fully prepared this time, didn't do too well. All I found was 1 clad dime, which was deeper than the seateds, and a little trash. I was digging every good signal, there just wasn't much else there. I'll probably go over the area once again later, still quite happy with the 2 dimes anyway.

Nice finds....

I have logged 100's of hours with my E-Trac, and have never once had the battery die on me. Did you forget to charge it?

I thought I had 2 bars left. When I got out there and turned it on, it was only one. That ran out in 30 minutes. The machine started making a low battery warning sound, then it shut off within a few minutes.
It's just a result of running out the door without any planning.
