FINLEY....AFTER A LONG WAIT...

I got to swing the X-Terra- 70 again. Due to heart problem (resolved with a pacemaker in June) and knee problem (surgery in August) I have been on the sidelines for the past four months.

This past Saturday my pardner and I got out for about a hour and half. We hunted a Confederate fort that was constructed to protect the Virginia-Tennessee railroad bridge over the New River. The fort is on the Pulaski County side of the river and the opposite side was Central Depot (now the city of Radford). Due to the undergrowth and thick foliage we were unable to do much hunting. We did manage to find a couple of square headed nails. Hopefully we can return after the thick foliage has died down.

Today (Monday) I decided to hit the local Boy Scout camp again. I hunted an area that I had hunted before but this time I used my new 3kHz coil. I Hunted an area about 50 ft square and recovered 11 quarters, 15 dimes, 5 pennies and a neckerchief slide and a recently dropped Swiss knife.

Sure felt good getting out again. HH TomB

Trust me when I tell you I understand how health issues can put a cramp in detecting plans. But it looks like you're off to a great "restart". It's good to hear you're back up and at em! Keep swingin that 3 kHz coil. It is definitely a silver and copper killer! HH Randy

Nice that you are able to get back out and swing that thing. Cool to have found a swiss army knife

Great to have you back. I'm still waiting on my knee and hernia operation.

Welcome back on deck Tom. I know what it's like to be out of action.
It looks like your first hunt uncovered a couple of good targets too.
Mick Evans.

Very glad to hear you are doing much better!

Congrats on those nice finds! Heck that Swiss Army knife is a nice one! Good hunting, Beale.

Thanks and it is good to be back. Beal the Swiss Army knife gave me a solid 44 on the first swing and a overload on the cross swing. When I moved the leaves the TID went with them. It was in the leaves on top of the ground. All the Stainless Steal I guess caused the overload. Tom

PS More than likely I will undergo a knee replacement in January. I will recover during the winter months and be ready to start hunting in the spring.

Sounds (and looks) like you're not letting the grass grow under your feet now that you're back in the saddle (apologise for the mixed metaphor). Great finds Tom...hope the knee surgery goes well and that you can start next season as good as new. Congratulations on the good finds.
