Finds this year

I am new to this forum and have never posted here before. I have two Explorer II's [one with a sunray probe] and just love them. I hunt in Upstate NY and mostly at old cellar holes in the woods. There has only been one place that I have ever detected at that I would call a 'virgin' site. Most have obviously been detected by others.

Here are a few of the things I have found with my Exporer II's. I found the top 1/2 of the War of 1812 Hat Plate when I first got my first Explorer II - the bottom 1/2 was found 2 years later [it was rolled into a tube shape]!! I love the War of 1812 Militaman's Button because it still has the original wool material attached to the shank!! I found the 1857 gold one dollar two weeks ago at an obviously detected site where I had found three large cents in one hour the seond time we stopped there. Sorry about the size of a couple of them. I have also found numerous large cents, seated coins, indian pennies, barber coins, etc etc etc. and many other great relics. I found the bottom half of a Heraldic Eagle Shield Shaped Brass Breast Plate a couple of weeks ago - I have found 2 little pieces of the rest but will keep looking.

if the sites havent been hunted with explorers then theres usually something left... nice gold coin and relics.. many people hunt their whole life and don't find a gold coin... where in NY are you?

Hello Jim

I met you at Jerry Burr's a couple of years ago. I live a couple of miles north of Albany, Sergei was one of my mentors. Taught me a lot about detecting.
Use to work down in your area [drove every day]. Maybe we can get together sometime.
Tim
