Sept 01,08 to November or so.A total of between 40 and 45 hours total, $40 in change and some other stuff not shown Just trying to see how to post.Have some artifacts from the Battle of Killdeer, I need identified. Now to find them. Thanks for putting up with this fooling around, Am learning what work/no work..cordially Nad

The finds are the end of a several year drought.I had a top of the line machine, didn't know how to use it properly. It was too sensitive to iron.I would go out , and quit after ten minutes. When I did force my self to stay and swing an hour,I would feel the weight.I sold it,With what I've learned on Find's,I could go back and make that thing sing..A person I know spent a lot of bucks on a detector. It is very highly regarded.Sits in a corner..Reason, IT is a piece of crap..Blame the detector....Bought a Silver to "mess around". Then bought Dave's "V"..Beginners luck may run out, but, enough good sites and there will be one hell of a finds board posted next year..Cordially NAd

Gunnar, since St Christopher is the patron Saint of all us coin shooters, and the medal was the first silver I found this year, will hang on to it for a while..However, the local coin dealer will pay about 50 cents on a good day. So when it eventually arrives, some amount around there would be fair.I didn't realize it, but the medal was cast,..You can see the shrinkage marks on the back..Sterling is stamped in and a copyright symbol with the makers symbol,an S with a vertical line in it..Anyone know whose mark this is? You have to watch finding things like this..My wife has the ten dollar gold piece on a chain...She saw a $25 gold coin that I have and said,"Why can't I have the bigger one to wear?"..If there is to be peace and quiet in the valley, no reason at all that she can't have it.... I may be old and stupid, but not totally stupid..Cordially NAD

Could you please post a close up of that one? Obverse and reverse?

The Barber is an 1892 P, reverse damaged. A friend is buying it for $45.00 to use in a type set., ..I am going to try another shrinking system that should allow magnification and better clarity.of the obverse For some strange reason I seem to be in an 1892 P box. I bought two., and found two..The other was found walking by an eroded bank, and that one was about good. The football field behind my house dates from 1928 to 88.Prior to that , there were eight small houses going back to the mid , late 1800's.When they were tearing the field up for a new school ,found all kinds of coins , even a females tomb stone..The tail end of a dump sticks out from a bank..Have never worked it .Coins, items shown were found with a Silver U Max, and Vaquero. The other detector was a 1266 Fisher XB,,But, I have Dan's 1266 X here and we all get along just well..Does not have the same jumpy reaction to iron as did the other .In fact if the other was this nice,I'd be on the Fisher forum. Please note, I am not knocking Fisher, have used them since the early 60's..The last machine was used in a period of severe stress, and while I tried to relax with it, all I did was get frustrated Cordially Nad

That is a nice collection of very nice things over a fairly short time period.
Well done!

Mr. Nad, Thats some good finds there, I especially like the Barber, (still looking for my first). I have read about the Barber series on different websites and it seems most don't really talk highly of them, (that it isn't a "pretty" coin). I think it may be one of my favorites, I just like the blocky design features, My .02. Good job.

Hay Nad,

Nice finds ya got there.

You Know,

I went through a thing like that.

I had BH, Garrett and Fishers.
They seemed too sensative to
everything, except what I wanted
to find. They were so heavy, they
were killing my sholder.

When I found Tesoro uMax detectors,
I also found this forum.

I have been in detector heaven sense
that happened.

From what I know now, I could make
those BH'es and Garretts and Fishers
sing.

They weren't tha bad detectors I thought
they were.

I was tha crummy detectorist! That's what.

Anyway, now I'm tha Tabdog, and I like it.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog
