Finds laid out on grid

Hi all

Bought my ExII about 3 months ago, and wanted to try and see if there was any obvious regions I could disc out.

My last machine was an old C-Scope TR 700, so it is a hell of a step up, but not as much as a difficult machine to use and understand as people would make you believe.

Made up a board with a grid corresponding to smart screen readout, and laid out finds on it.

Bottom left being Fer32, Cond00. Top right being Fer00, Cond 32

Did not really help much, in producing a disc pattern, but useful to show where targets appear.
All scanned as air tests, first using standard 10.5 coil, then with X-1 probe.
Sometimes probe and coil gave same readings, sometimes different. This was also true using a 5 inch and 15 inch Excelerator coils, different coils often gave different readings on some objects.

I am based in Jersey, Channel Islands, Not Jersey USA, but a small island (12x6 miles) off the coast of France (14 miles) but part of the UK (80 miles to the North).

Great idea, you might find it interesting to consider each square a pixel on th screen. Notice that nothing happens with some pixels so there is no null or positive hit so it does not matter if they are black or clear. If we consider the pixels where the pulltabs and other junk hits we can reject some pixels and still detect gold rings. I have messed with this at different times during the cold days of winter and thought you might consider the grid from another angle.

Cheers

I did a batch file conversion of them in Photoshop, to reduce the size of the file, but forgot about shrinking the image size as well !!

I did use the digital reading to create the grid, had considered using screen pixels, in full view, but that would have definetly sent my eyes funny.

I did start trying to count them, then gave up, hence the use of the digital screen to create the grid positions.

When you are searching for specific items, the ability to disc out by blacking the screen is great, but for general relic/coin hunting in areas where you have no idea of what you are likely to find, blacking out anything more than a basic Iron Mask will lose you finds. I had started by using a lot of disc, and editing out crap as I went but was always wondering what was under the nulls. It was one time when I checked, that I found one of the coins you can see in the pics (last pic to the right image 1316 position 8, 14). It was a hammered silver 1589 or 1590 Charles X French Douzaine. Am glad I checked that null!!

Well, if there was a way to only dig good stuff, we would all have loads of nice finds, but would probably be bored with it all.

Side scan radar perhaps, get a graphic pic of the item before digging? Will have to have a word with the electronics lads at the airfield!!
