Finds from yesterdays hunt

These are my finds from yesterdays hunt in the woods. the purse was an eyes only find and was laid on top of the grass.

The coins from the purse are all Australian and date between 1966 - 1968, most of the coins that did come out of the ground

are in poor condition due to acid soil created by leaf mould, I find lots of those small bullets with the green plastic tips maybe

Q H knows what they are / or what gun sport they are used in.

The pics don't give me much detail when I tried to enlarge the ammo.

Without any size reference this is just a guess. I know that England is not big on pistols, but your cartridges have the look of a straight wall center fire semi-rimmed pistol round that we refer to as the 25 ACP in the States. That stands for Automatic Colt Pistol. The metrics on it would be 6.35 mm and it is also known as the 6.35 Browning. Lots of these small caliber guns were produced in European countries including Belgium and Italy.

As to why it would have "green plastic" tipped bullets is beyond me, as what I am seeing, basically flush with the case mouth would be referred to as "wadcutters" over on this side of the pond. Rounds used for target practice. I don't know if anybody commercially loads wadcutters in 25. That wouldn't keep anybody from setting a 25 bullet backwards in the case if they are doing any reloading though. Could also be some type of blank round for a 25 starter type pistol used to train bird dogs.

Look at the end of the brass. There should be a primer dead in the center and some kind of head stamp (letters and numbers) encircling the primer.

Given that info I think we can get you a definitive answer. Nice finds by the way:thumbup:

I am pretty sure your 8mm (32 cal.) cartridges marked UNIS 8mm is what would be referred to in the UK as an "alarm cartridge". we refer to them as blanks....you can possibly get tear gas rounds for it too, I know they make those in the 9 mm version. Blank ammo is currently being made in Germany for those guns chambered for the blank rounds......the 9mm tear gas round is yellow on the end.....vs green on the blanks. I would still treat them as live rounds untill your 100% sure exactly what they are.

I believe it to be made in Yugoslavia by UNIS-Pobjeda, of Gurazde, Yugoslavia. UNIS-Pobjeda, was apperantly a Yugoslav Government Arsenal.

There is also the possibility that there is a Bosenian connection with UNIS Genix, who makes some componets for the 8 mm Knall. (blanks)

You are a mind of information Q H and I don't know what this forum would do without your knowledge.

I am pleased that the bullets are blanks, because when I asked the wife what she was going shopping

for today she replied " A Gun "

Thanks Again Q H.
