Finds from yesterday!!

These are the finds from yesterday at an old house site using the M6, not the Civil war era site ... Im not sure if the ring is silver, cleaned good, only mark I can find on the band is 0 or 825, and I need some help on the ID of the buckle. Thanks and Happy Hunting!!

That ring is a beauty. As you probably know 925 is a sterling silver mark, I wonder if 825 is a lesser but still a high content for silver. The design is really a piece of art. It looks quite intricate. Nice buckle and coin too. Good hunting!

get some steel wool (0000 works well)
rub the ring with the steel wool till it shines up pretty well
it will give it an antique look
if you want it to shine up really well just use a small buffing wheel
on a dremel tool

Never, never try to clean a vintage piece of jewelry if you want to retains its antiquity. If your going to sell it, leave it as is and let the new owner mess with it. If your going to give it as a gift, leave it alone. The only thing that separates it from a brand new ring is its patina. I've seen many valuable artifacts become worthless to collectors by over cleaning. If you must, use a Maggi pan or liquid cleaner. Otherwise your have scratches and buff marks all over it (whizzing). Just my advice but I speak from years of experience. Nice finds by the way.
