Finds from VA....

My Dad got us on a place built in 1820, so naturally I had to make an "Emergency" run to VA. He pulled up a large cent that turned out to be an 1836 after cleaning. It's in better shape than it looks even though someone started to drill it.[attachment 14311 LC1836Obv.jpg]

The reverse looks a lot better[attachment 14312 LC1836Rev.jpg]

My first good find was a Confederate Block "A" coat button.[attachment 14313 CleanedBlockA.jpg]

Then I followed up with an 1865 Indian. I love that green patina![attachment 14314 IH65.jpg]

Here are a couple more Indians.[attachment 14315 IHs.jpg]

And finally a little modern silver.[attachment 14316 SilverDimes.jpg]

There is still a ton of ground to cover, but there are two HUGE trees down in the yard. There has got to be some good ones under all that! Hey Dad....save a few for me!

I'm drooling but it's freezing to my chin!

Even the gulls looked depressed today, 'cause this is the last open water left in the state, and they know it! And my take for the day was a few tabs and a zinc, but it did give me a chance to get out and enjoy the 38deg heatwave, good thing I was able to keep cool in the refreshing water.:jump:

Now I don't want you to get alarmed, but those are the Ossipee Mountains in the background............ not Ossipee, NC but Ossipee, NH.

Keep those bootins coming!

I feel your pain :) I used to live in Cleveland, Ohio.

Ive been living here in Virginia now for about 12 years or more and being just a little more to the south sure helps. We have a few days where we cant dig because of snow or hard ground but for the most part I can still go in to the woods and not have to deal with frozen ground.

Sorry to rub it in but I cant resist :) I got a little hot when hiking around the woods this past weekend and spent some of the time detecting in a T-Shirt.

Very nice finds.Sounds like you have a place to detect for a while. That is one very well worn merc.Good luck:))
