Hello Geo. Thank you for your reply. Its good when you get a reply from you guys in the USA. I read most of the sites on findmall to see what is being found. We are only a young country while you have some older history with older coins and relics. All the best .Stan. Australia. Down Under.

Hey Stan, Your country is not much younger, than ours!! If I remember correctly, your date of independence is 1789, where ours is 1776. So, if I'm correct, your country is only 13yrs. younger, than ours. One Aussie once told me, that our two countries, both started out as penal colonies in the 1700's. Made up of alot of British Empire Immigarants, and that is why our two countries, have so much in common, and we get along so well!! HH,

Hello NamVetLesTreasureSeeker. You are right about the British starting a penal colonies. What I should have meant about the different stages your country went through like the Indian wars the civil wars and the war against the red coats (British).also the ports of entry by the trading boats and the pirates in the early years. All that activity has a huge history and the coins and artefacts and relics left behind to find in our present time. I would dearly like to hunt your civil war sites as I like old history. The closest I can get to that era is finding the pre decimal coins that the aussie started minting our own coins from 1910 to 1966 when we changed to the dollar and cents coins. Before that we used mostly English and a few other countries money. When the money was in short supply we used rum in place of money for some time to buy the essentials. When I find an old site going back a fair way I get quite excited to dig up the old money like this US army hospital site that I was able to research. I have been there three years in the winter time as now we are in the middle. In summer time I spend more time on the beaches. So far I have found five US dog tags at this hospital site and been able to track down two owners and return them. That sort of thing gives me a big buzz. If any one is interested I will leave a link to the stories and outcome. All the best. Stan Australia Down Under.
