Finds From The Weekend

New member
Well, went out a couple times over the weekend with Husband and without Husband.
We both ended up with a Merc (mine 1926 and his 1945) on different days.
I also ended up finding 1909 Wheat (no VDB) and the Duel Valve Key Fob, 925 Cross and costume earring.
The Wheat dates were: 1909,1918,1920,1935,1945,1946 and 194?s
I also included in the Penny Photo a found 1961 Canadian Penny
Thanks For Viewing

Sweet finds

Looks like a good weekend to me. I really like the watch fob. I have only found one to date but it was one of my favorite finds. Nice going on the Mercs too.

"Hi Eva."

The old saying, 'Variety, is the spice of life' aptly applies to your very satisfying finds. Well done.

Our club outing on Sunday took us to a very boggy field of short withered wheat stubble interlaced with grass.

I suspect that in common with most of the local area, it was a dumping ground for 'night soil' in the past.

Plenty of fragments of non ferrous metals found, and one copper penny, was all that filled my pouch after 4 hours. I suspect I chose the wrong unit for the location, but because I travelled with several others in the one vehicle, I had to limit my equipment. I chose to take the X-terra 705 and 18 khz head, instead of my E-Track.
It performed well within the limits of its small elliptical search head, but those using the E-Track did find the odd deep silver amongst the debris. Alas, there was little to get excited about, in historical terms.

But isn't that the way of things in this hobby? You have to take the bad days as well as the good.

At least we enjoyed the company and improving weather here in the UK.

Soon, spring will be upon us, and as the days grow brighter and longer, we will be able to shed the winter clothing and detect with a little more pace and enthusiasm.

As is my normal practice on arriving home, I walked to the top of our garden and tipped my finds bag into a plastic container, to be examined later. There in my little corner, were clusters of white crocus waving their pretty heads as if to welcome me home. All around the garden the daffodils are popping out and the blossoms on the camellia bushes are bursting into bloom.

So Eva, to you and yours, " A bouquet of best wishes "........Matt.
