Finds from the weekend - Barber, SLQ, Mercs and such

Mirage

New member
Was off on Friday(Veterans day observance). Nate was in school and Danimal was earning the big bucks. So off I went solo to the place we have code named the Iceberg. Was a nice day and conditions made it enjoyable to hunt. Ended the day with 9 silver and 9 wheats and one Buff. Saturday was rainy and a little cool so it got a little messy. Still managed to come home with 8 silver, 5 Buffaloes and 15 wheats. Was happy to find a barber dime with all the other stuff. :)

Oh yeah - one other bonus - Nate and I both got a little poison ivy. :p

Excellent finds again from that location. The finds are very nice, but even better is all the experience you are gaining with your new SE.

I recently purchased the SE too and struggle deciding on which iffy signals to dig (my first Minlab detector, so these sounds are new to me). All to often the I find myself needing the probe to stick down in the hole to see what is REALLY there.

We had snow on the ground this past weekend, so there was no hunting for me. I am going to send my upper shaft off for a probe when our season is done and start again in the spring with the X1 in my arsenal.

Wishing you continued HH.

Looks like you and the ex II have become one. Was wondering if you used the graph(smartfind screen)was confirmed in another post. Is Danimal your son and is he the one that found the mystery whatzit item at the football field? the ancient looking pendant.if so What ever became of it?

Hello Explorer people!!

Just to clarify, I am not Bob's (Mirage)son, but a friend. We met online and began hunting together.

Bob uses a EXII, not the new SE.

Yes, it was me that found that Minoan bronze pendant. As expected, interest from the experts waned in the item after they found out where it was found, as it doesn't fit their paradigm of ancient artifacts in the Americas. I have it somewhere safe. All that have seen it in person agree that it appears to be very very old and not some type of reproduction.

Huntd with Mirage and Nate Saturday, and solo on Sunday

here's a link to my post about the finds on the Garrett forum!

Nate is my son - Danimal is a local MDing buddy I met through this forum. The guy is more dangerous with his ACE250 than I am with my Exp II. I think this is more from his personality and the time he puts in with his detector(ACE is no slouch).

The Ancient Pendant....Danimal found that and I don't have all the particulars but had a bunch of correspondence on another forum about the item. Email him and he will give you the link to the thread(I never saw the thread) but heard some of the story.

As for me and the Exp II - getting there. Some days I feel like a master other days I feel it takes some real effort and don't get the best results.

Wonderful finds! Silver really looks nice coming out of the
ground. did your signals hit dime-03-28, quarter 00-28,29
half-00-29, nickle-10-06 ?

Thanks Yooper. I don't have the new SE - I have the Exp II. It's "new" to me(3 months) but much like the Quattro I had. One thing I like about the minelab's - if it's an iffy signal it usually is junk. Some of the "iffy" signals have a taste of good in them for a couple good reasons - either you swing too fast or not centered over the target.

Good luck with your new machine. You will do well with it.

Bob

That is a great spot you found for hunting at. It is producing a lot of nice old coins and such for you and I hope it keeps up for a long time. Very nice selection of finds. I like the Marbles you found also. Even though the Barber Dime is worn, they are still a very nice looking coin to find and very nice run of Merc's. Looks great posting them like you did. What are you posting your finds with? Digital Camera? Great looking pics. Continued success at that site and Good Luck and HH.
