Finds from the past couple of days

Two Overcoat Union "I" Buttons, General Service Button, carved on bullet, 2 chewed on bullets, 1862 Penny, and a knife with a 2 Small Pewter Stars on either side of the handle. Most of the wood is on the handle, found deep in a dump. The Stars are embedded in the wood. I have never dug one like that. Relics found with XTerra 50.

I have always heard that the chewed on bullets were used when they cut on someone in the war. I would hate to have a leg cut off with just a bullet to chew on. HH..BJ

found the best chewed on bullet I have ever seen. The soldier chomped down on it with his back molars pinching the bullet way out, it took some jaw power to do that. Of course, surgery would make a guy do it.
