Finds from the old fairground

Went out to an old fairground that dates back to the 1870s. Ended up with 3 keepers and a ton of Wheaties. No old silver and no Indians, but a good hunt. Definitely want to go back and try again. With an open screen, there were 8-10 targets per sweep, so it was very slow going. The mercury dime was about 8" down, the Rosie was about 5" down, and the Washington was about 8-9" down. I think the older stuff is deeper than the 6" would go. The Washington and Mercury dime were found with the stock coil. Right before I left I actually put the 17" coil on and found a couple of wheats 10-11" down. Surprisingly, the big coil would ring loud and true, even through the null, so I may leave it on next time and see if I can coax something deeper out of the ground. Thanks to sube for his advice on how to hunt this place.

If you can stand to run manual sensitivity around 29-30, you should get deep enough. I can hit a dime in the test garden at 10" with manual sensivity. About 6.5-7" tops in auto plus 3 after noise cancel.

Nice job Jake, I'm sure that fairgrounds has lots more to spit out.

Well your on your way . One thing I would like to ask how deep is the top soil before it changes to a different type of soil . This generally tells me how deep things well be buried . I have my 6 inch coil crank to 30 as long as it's rubbing the ground it does not false ,don't no how high you can crank it up in your soil . Your top soil may be deeper than where I hunt and if that the case maybe the stock coil can get the depth you need but you think the 6 is slow wait tell you use the stock coil with that many signals . You could go with pattern 1 with disc and recheck anything that high tones with the open screen pattern 2 .It will always give you a better audio and #s . There are Indians and barbers there just have to hit them and see how deep they are . Keep in mind that a lot of coins with that much junk will be mixed signals ,don't pass any 12.29 to 12.33 . When you hit a lower # sweep 2 ways on it , say a 12.31 the other way may read 12.13 or 12.43 depending how it lays in the ground and what's with it .I think your in a great spot just got to figure it out and what settings well work for you . By the way what were your sense #s with the stock and 6 inch coil .WTG on the silver. sube

Sensitivity was hovering around 22-24 with both coils. I cranked up the sensitivity with the 6" up to 30, and it didn't false too much. The top soil is actually pretty deep here. There are lots of rocks mixed in with the top soil too which makes digging pretty difficult.
