Took a day during the Thanksgiving holidays to search a cleared block in the old, but poor part of town. Found lot's of relics that hinted at the daily life of average poor folks. Found 15 wheats between 1927 and 1957; One crusty 1901 IH under where a sidewalk was; 2 aluminum and 1 brass Palmolive coupons; several brass buckles from saddles and belts; 4 compacts; a Merry Widows tin (50c variety); a Ford car key from the 1920s & 30s; a silver thimble and an aluminum advertising thimble from the American National Insurance Co. of Galveston, Texas; a Great Seal collar disk or hat pin; a 1943 silver nickel; some Mexican coinage of $50, $100, and $500; a Triple X Root Beer bottle opener; a brass volley ball pendant that shows the 20th century sport on one side and what looks like an ancient version of the sport on the other side; large shell buttons and some glass marbles; costume jewelry from yesteryear; a 1913 rifle shell from Frankford Arsenal and many other objects. Enjoyed the solitude of having the whole block to myself and didn't care if I found anything valuable. Thanks for looking.
